Guernsey Recycling Ltd, a locally owned and managed private company was founded
in 1996.
Since then the company has invested heavily in modern recycling plant and equipment, staff
training and an extensive programme of environmentally protective groundwork.
The
core business is the efficient, high-tech processing and recycling of all types
of metal based products which have been discarded within the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
Guernsey Recycling is currently expanding the range of recycling activities to
include plastic and electronic goods.
The company operates from its own,
environmentally compliant premises and recycles and exports over 7,000 tonnes of
recycled scrap metal per year. Over 75% of all the metal waste received into the
depot at Bulwer Avenue , is recycled into secondary raw material. The company
currently produces over 20 different grades of recycled products all of which are
exported throughout Europe.
The company is contracted to the States of
Guernsey for its Bulk Refuse Disposal Contract under which all the old vehicles (E.L.V’s)
on the Island are recycled.

The recycling plant and equipment at the Guernsey Recycling depot
includes:-
- A 500 horsepower car shredder (fragmentiser) with electro-hydraulic conveyors feeding the with a high intensity eddy current and rotating magnetic separation system.
- A 600 tonne hydraulic shear/baler.
- 3 x hydraulic cranes.
- Car de-pollution rig.
- A non-ferrous baling press and cutting equipment.
- A Fork lift truck.
- Plus other items of associated plant, equipment and transport.
